PPKUKM Department to Check Mask Availability in Markets

Jakarta Industry, Trade, Cooperative, Small and Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM) Department will carry out unannounced inspections to check mask stock availability in Jakarta.

We will form integrated team to monitor places that sell masks or medical devices, including in traditional market

Jakarta PPKUKM Department Acting Head (Plt), Elizabeth Ratu Rante Allo stated, currently her side has been reported that there is shortage of mask because the raw materials for masks are imported from China.

"Recently, there is COVID-19 outbreak in China. Automatically raw material to produce mask is reduced thus it has potential to cause increase in price," she asserted, Tuesday (2/18).

Regarding unannounced inspection, her side will also cooperate with Health Department and Polda Metro Jaya (police).

"We will form integrated team to monitor places that sell masks or medical devices, including in traditional market," she added.

According to her, if her side found sellers who are stockpiling the masks, her side will let police to take a part in handling things related to legal matters.

"Certainly, we can't speculate things, thus we need to ensure it by checking it directly to find out the reality," she asserted.
